What we call ‘healthcare’ is really ‘illness care’ focused primarily on caring for people after they are sick, with less emphasis put on maintaining health and wellness. Elizabeth will speak about how do we respond to the challenges, as they exist today, in a way that maximizes our own health and resiliency? Elizabeth will explore ways to maintain passion and joy in our lives and in our work.
Elizabeth Causton has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and has worked in the field for over 40 years. Fourteen of those years were spent at Victoria Hospice, where she worked as a clinical counselor on the community crisis team. Although she is now semi-retired, she continues to offer seminars and workshops both locally and across Canada on a variety of topics including enhancing psychosocial and communication skills, team building, increasing patient advocacy and collaboration skills, and strategies for improving end of life care across all settings.
2800 Blanshard St, Victoria, BC V8T 5B5
The entrance door for EFCN is on Market Street between Nanaimo Street and Blanshard Street.
Our EFCN sign and/or the helpful Wellesley staff will direct you to the room. Be sure to come a little earlier (we suggest 7:30) to allow yourself time to arrive and visit before the meeting starts at 8:00 am.
There is parking around and about the building, and Long and McQuade has generously offered their upper parking area on the corner of Market Street and Nanaimo Street.
Have a Cold?
While we will miss you, please don't come into the building if you have the sniffles, a scratchy throat or a cough. We want to do our part to help The Wellesley stay healthy.
